Summer School
St. Vincent Summer School is a 4 week program. It provides an opportunity for students to further develop the fundamental skills necessary to be successful at the next grade level. The program has three critical components designed to maximize student learning during summer school. Students work on core academic skills in the areas of reading, math, and writing. Each grade level reads a novel during the summer and then the student is allowed to take it home. The program is divided into different levels to maximize the learning of the student.

MTRC
Making The Right Connections (MTRC) is a 5 week program, separate program from Summer School and begins after lunch. Students enrolled in Summer School do not need to enroll in MTRC. It is designed as a summer camp type program. The core MTRC curriculum focuses on teaching students conflict resolution, gang and drug awareness & prevention, community building, nutrition & self-esteem development. MTRC teaches multicultural art, sports, technology, & dance. Speakers are invited to speak to students and help reinforce what has been taught during MTRC. Once a week students are taken on a Field Trip and lunch is provided for them. Toward the end of the program we take our annual field trip to the “MTRC Get-Together.” This experience brings all of the school sites together for a rally and entertainment session, followed by carnival activities and picnic at a park. Each student is provided with an MTRC Tee Shirt that is to be worn on all field trips. MTRC offers the students the opportunity to enjoy creative activities designed to enhance their social and recreational skills.
